During the war in Syria many different civilian populations suffered. This film is about the siege of al-Fu'ah and Kefriya in Idlib province, northern Syria near Aleppo. These towns were controlled by Syrian government forces. They had majority Shia populations. Syrian rebel groups besieged them for three years, from 2015-2018. Thousands of civilians were trapped. Most humanitarian access was stopped. When they were evacuated their suffering did not cease.
The documentary ‘A Tale of Two Starved Cities’ (2022) is about the effects of that siege on women and children, and about the issues that doctors and teachers living in those conditions witnessed.
